What’s next for The Women in Trucking Association as Jennifer Hedrick, incoming president and CEO, takes the helm?
NTI’s Leah Shaver, a longtime member and three-term board of director at WIT, had the chance to sit down one on one with Hedrick this week to ask her just that, as well as to learn more about what’s next for WIT short term and long term as Hedrick becomes only the second leader of the 17-year-old association.
While Hedrick has a mindset toward growth — a goal of tripling the group’s membership numbers over the next decade — her ultimate goals for shepherding Women in Trucking are still rooted in the group’s core missions: Mitigating the barriers to entry for and growing the number of women working in careers in trucking, whether that’s behind the wheel, as a repair techs, or in an office setting; celebrating and promoting the accomplishments of women in the industry; building avenues for women to excel into leadership positions; and providing a network of mentors and connections for women in the industry to access.
